The Office for Research has partnered with research groups across the university to create Core Day, an event to publicize core facility services to Columbia faculty, students, and research staff.
The VP&S Office for Research, together with the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research, Columbia Stem Cell Initiative, Irving Institute for Clinical and Translational Research, and Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, held a Spring 2019 Research Social to showcase research cores and shared facilities across the CUIMC, Manhattanville, and Morningside campuses. At Core Day:
39 shared resources from three Columbia campuses presented posters
297 students, postdocs, faculty, and staff registered to attend
81 individuals participated in our exit survey, and 71 respondents (87%) learned about a new core
The vast majority of attendees (99% of those who took the exit survey) indicated interest in making Core Day an annual event
The VP&S Office for Research is currently planning when to host the next Core Day event, and if any changes should be made to the format. We have posted the exit survey results from the 2019 event online. Please feel free to review the results, and send us with any suggestions for future events.
