Large and Complex Grants

The VP&S Office for Research helps medical school investigators compile necessary grant components and coordinate research collaborations throughout the university for large and/or complex applications.

The primary objective of the Proposal Development Team in the Office for Research is to facilitate the generation and development of complex, multi-investigator research grant proposals. Our office recognizes that these grants can require a large coordination of efforts to ensure that all aspects of the FOA are addressed. We are to here to help with the odds and ends so that our researchers can focus on the scientific strategy. Our ultimate goal is to aid PIs in the submission of a compelling and complete application of which they can be proud.

Our Services

Technical

The Proposal Development Team can help you prepare complex grant proposals by assisting with proposal editing, drafting supporting documents for your review, as well as advising on proposal content and organization. Every grant and investigator needs are unique so we will work with you to tailor our services.

Managerial

Our group can serve as project management lead by keeping the faculty team on-time and on-target for developing the proposal. We will work with your department’s pre-award group and the Sponsored Projects Administration office to ensure a complete and timely submission.

Please note that the level of service depends on the grant’s complexity, PI enthusiasm, and time to submission.

When to Contact Us

Please contact us as early as you are able; ideally, when you are first notified of the RFA and are in the process of assembling an investigative team. We can even help facilitate scientific collaborations to address the needs of the proposal. In our experience, we need at least eight weeks to compile complex, multi-PI grants. Please note that if help is requested with less than eight weeks before the deadline, we cannot guarantee the same level of service (i.e., we can comment on how clearly and effectively the proposed work is communicated but cannot undertake major revisions or help with any of the logistical components mentioned above).

To request assistance with a complex research grant, please email the Proposal Development Team.
