Pharmaceutical-Grade Drugs

Pharmaceuticals for animal research can be requested through ICM.

ICM and IACUC policies require that investigators use veterinary or human pharmaceutical-grade compounds in animal research whenever possible. Exceptions to this policy must be approved by IACUC, and will only be made on the basis of scientific necessity or unavailability of a suitable veterinary or human-grade compound. Please view the ICM/IACUC policy for more information.

To purchase a veterinary or human-grade pharmaceutical compound for animal research, researchers can submit an ICM service request indicating the type of drug needed. ICM will then work with the researcher to try to purchase the drug for the lab from the vendor. ICM will charge the researcher for the drug once it is received by ICM.
