10 & 49. Biomarkers Core Laboratory (BCL, Irving Institute)

Biomarker Core Lab Team

Biomarkers Core Laboratory (BCL) at the Irving Institute for Clinical and Translational Research provides researchers with expertise, state-of-the-art technologies, and instrumentation for the quantitative assessment of biomarkers, drug monitoring, lipidomics, targeted and untargeted metabolomics. BCL specializes in developing customized and validated LC-MS/MS based assays for metabolites, and small molecule drugs to support clinical and translational research and pharmacokinetic studies. Our mission is to assist the investigators in identifying cost-effective and efficient analytical strategies and technology platforms to accomplish individual project end-goals.

BCL’s exposomics platform facilitates the omics-scale analysis of environmental chemicals to characterize human exposomes for clinical, translational, and population studies. The platform employs liquid and gas chromatography-based high-resolution mass spectrometry and bioinformatics pipelines to measure exogenous and endogenous compounds in human samples (plasma, serum, CSF, urine). The framework is designed to capture a wide variety of environmental chemicals in an untargeted fashion facilitating an integrable dataset for multi-omics.
