3. High Containment Laboratory (HCL, BSL-3)

High Containment Laboratory (HCL, BSL-3) Team

The High Containment Laboratory (HCL, BSL-3) Core facility at Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center provides scientific and experimental support for investigators interested in extending research projects using infectious viruses that are not select agents.  The facility has permits to provide you an environment to handle infectious viruses that can accelerate and validate many of the experiments performed in a BSL-2 including, but not limited to, respiratory pathogens like SARS-CoV-2 and pathogenic influenza viruses.  Our dedicated staff can perform infection experiments that can advance your research to the next level.

List of services:

  1. Repository of viral respiratory pathogens for your research
    1. SARS-CoV-2 isolates
    2. Other respiratory viral pathogens
  2. Perform viral infectivity experiments in cell model systems in vitro
  3. Provide titrated viruses for your animal model experiments
  4. Train your dedicated staff to perform experiments inside the BSL-3
  5. Provide limited support for completing applications for the Institutional Biosafety Office (IBC) Appendix A and your Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC) applications
