Precision Biomolecular Characterization Facility (PBCF)

The Precision Biomolecular Characterization Facility (PBCF) in the chemistry department at Columbia University Morningside campus provides internal and external users access to state-of-the-art biophysical instrumentation for characterizing macromolecules or molecular interactions in bulk or single-molecule scale. The in-house biophysical instruments include SEC-MALS, CD, ITC, SPR, super-resolution microscope, optical tweezer, and others. In addition, the PBCF houses biochemistry instruments for sample preparation and protein purification, like ultracentrifuges, cell disruptors, lyophilizers, etc.
